In a significant step toward supporting livelihoods and economic empowerment, Misr El Kheir Foundation, in collaboration with EDECS Foundation for Sustainable Development, implemented the “Shabaket Rizq” project in Luxor Governorate.
In its first phase, the project provided 15 fully equipped fishing boats to small-scale fishermen, helping to improve their income and living conditions. By providing the necessary tools and resources, the initiative empowers local communities to build sustainable livelihoods and secure a better future for their families.
Additionally, during their off-fishing times, fishermen collect plastic bags and other waste from the water canals and deliver them to a collection center, where the materials are compressed and sent for recycling as part of an environmental initiative.
The project aims to expand in future phases to include more beneficiaries, ultimately establishing a developmental fishing fleet that creates lasting social and economic impact. By fostering entrepreneurship, resilience, and sustainable development, the Shabaket Rizq serves as a model for community-driven initiatives that generate tangible and meaningful change for vulnerable populations.
